AMPM Safety & Environmental Ltd was set up in 1996 by Pat Dunphy after he had completed the Higher Diploma in Health, Safety Welfare at Work at University College Dublin.
Prior to setting up the company, Pat had gained experience and qualifications as a Safety Officer and Production Manager at Quest International, which was a Unilever Food Ingredients manufacturing facility at Ferrybank in Waterford.
Pat was originally involved in the preparation of the Safety Management Systems in advance of the introduction of the 1989 Safety and Health at Work Act. This involved ensuring that the company could make the necessary adjustment from the common law duty of care to the new statutory legal requirements and ensured safety became part of the culture of the business through employee involvement and consultation.
In 2001, AMPM Safety & Environmental Ltd was the first company in the South East to provide Safe Pass training for the construction industry. In 2003, the company moved into the Enniscorthy Enterprise and Technology Centre and provided both consultancy and training from this location. For the past number of years AMPM Safety & Environmental Ltd has operated from the IFA Centre, Mill Park Road, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford. Shane Dunphy joined the company in 2006 having completed his degree in Bachelor of Business in Recreation and Leisure in addition to the National Certificate in Fitness & Exercise at Waterford Institute of Technology and took up a position as Marketing and Contracts Manager. Shane now delivers a vast amount Health & Safety training courses along with assisting clients with Health & Safety consultancy.
In 2008, AMPM Safety & Environmental Ltd became an Accredited FETAC/QQI Training Provider to deliver a number of different Health and Safety course at different levels, such as Safety Awareness, Workplace Safety, Safety & Health At Work, Occupational First Aid. We also became the only accredited training provider outside of Dublin to have the NFQ Level 6 “Coordinating Health and Safety Construction State” validated. This award equipped experienced construction contractors with the necessary academic qualifications to become competent to carry out the role of Project Supervisor Construction Stage in compliance with Consultation Regulations. After successfully completing the theory and practical assessments, successful candidates are competent to liaise with all duty holders and manage the safety at the construction stage of a project.
